ITOCA has trained over 5,000 academic and research professionals (information specialists, faculty, researchers, policy-makers and practitioners) in information literacy courses focusing mainly on the use of e-resources under the Research4Life (HINARI, AGORA, OARE, ARDI) and TEEAL programmes. In the last 15 years, more than 100 courses have been delivered in about 30 Sub-Saharan African countries. The courses are funded through contracts with collaborating partners such as the Rockefeller Foundation, Cornell University-Mann Library, CTA, DAAD, FAO, IDS, UNEP, WHO, WIPO and the PROTA Foundation. They are largely hosted by local universities and research centres and the courses are tailored to meet the needs of the participating professionals.
The course design and curricula constitute student-centred learning approaches, hands-on exercises and building facilitation skills for the participants aimed at helping them go back to their institutions and train their colleagues, clients and students.
Our upcoming training workshops for 2015 will be updated soon. For more information please send an e-mail to email@example.com
