ITOCA has trained over 2,500 information professionals, faculty, researchers and students in information literacy cources focusing on the use of electronic information resources (AGORA, HINARI, OARE and TEEAL) in about 30 Sub-Saharan African countries in the last eleven years. These courses funded through collaborating partners such as the Rockefeller Foundation, Cornell University-Mann Library, FAO, CTA, WHO, UNEP and PROTA Foundation and hosted by local universities and research centres are tailored to meet the needs of the institutions and course attendees.
The course design and curricula constitute student-centred learning approaches, hands-on exercises and building facilitation skills for the participants aimed at helping them go back to their institutions and train their colleagues, clients and students.
